Pediatric Voice/Hoarseness

If you have voice complaints for a duration of 4 - 5 weeks, you should have Dr. Tamez perform a complete head and neck exam including a fiberoptic evaluation of your voice box. This is a quick and painless procedure that can usually reveal the underlying cause.

Voice complaints can be due to:

• Acid reflux irritating the vocal cords (Laryngopharyngeal Reflux-LPR)
• Vocal cord nodule
• Papilloma
• Vocal cord cyst

Possible Treatments

• Speech Therapy
• Microscope-Suspended Direct Laryngoscopy with or without biopsy
