Pediatric Chronic Tonsillitis/Recurrent Strep Throat

Recurrent infections or chronic smoldering tonsillitis (in which the tonsils are chronically irritated) Tonsiliths (tonsil stones) which can all lead to halitosis and affect a patient's quality of life to a significant degree in both children and adults. Although Dr. Tamez uses the latest technology (radiofrequency technology: Coblator or Harmonic Scalpel), removing the tonsils is usually very painful. Kids recover much quicker, and in general, tolerate a tonsillectomy much better than adults. In kids, the adenoids are almost always removed at the same time. Adenoids are tonsil tissue behind the nose.
