Pediatric Temporal Mandibular Joint Disorder (TMD)

A frequent cause of ear pain (Otalgia) is Temporal Mandibular Joint Disorder (TMD), which is the result of chronic grinding/clinching of the teeth. This grinding/clinching leads to joint inflammation and because one of the sensory nerves to the ear is also a sensory nerve to the joint, it leads to ear pain.
