Benefits from Wearing Hearing Aids
Hearing loss is one of the most common conditions in the world. Most hard-of-hearing people could benefit from modern hearing aids, as they can significantly improve the user's ability to understand speech in difficult listening situations.
Unfortunately, many people hesitate to take the necessary action to overcome their disability, which could enable them to return to a full and active lifestyle.
| Just imagine: |
| • |
Conversations would run more smoothly, with fewer repetitions and interruptions. |
| • |
Dangerous situations in traffic could be avoided. |
| • |
Plus - you could rediscover all those captivating sounds of nature: Waves crashing against the shore, birds twittering in the park, leaves rustling in the wind - even a fluffy cat purring! |
Hearing Aid Technology: Go Digital!
The advantages of digital technology are well accepted. Professor Dr. Jürgen Kiessling, of the HNO Clinic at the Justus-Liebig University in Giessen, Germany comments that: "The biggest advantage of digital technology in hearing instruments compared with analog technology is that digital technology allows more sophisticated signal processing strategies in the hearing instrument. The most common complaint of the hard-of-hearing population is that they don't have good communication ability in noisy environments or in group conversations. It's particularly in those situations that digital technology will be able, and is already able to provide better benefits to people."
Tejas Ear, Nose and Throat offers a wide range of digital hearing aids, from entry level digital to premium digital technology. The price range is from $850 to $2800. Please ask our audiologist for details or schedule an appointment today for a free hearing aid consultation.
Sizes of Hearing Aids
Behind The Ear (BTE)
More power, typically for severe or profound hearing loss, but they can be for any type of hearing loss. Must be worn with an ear mold to connect the aid to your ear. All children who wear hearing aids are fit with BTE's.
In The Ear (ITE)
Any type of hearing loss. An ITE hearing aid fills in the inside of the ear and extends down into the ear canal to different lengths.
In The Canal (ITC)
Limited to mild to severe hearing losses. This hearing aid is smaller and sits in the opening of the ear canal and behind the tragus and extends into the ear canal further than an ITE.
Completely In the Canal (CIC)
Limited to a mild to moderate hearing loss. These hearing aids sit in the opening of the ear canal and extend deep into the ear canal.
How to Determine the Prices of Hearing Aids
It is important to keep in mind the following factors make up the cost of an aid:
| • |
The type of technology you and your audiologist determine is best for your loss and your needs (digital/programmable/conventional). |
| • |
The size of the hearing aid that you and your audiologist have determined will fit you best. |
| • |
Combine the technology with the size to determine the cost of each hearing aid. |
