More About Dr. Boudreaux ›

Audiology is the science of hearing, which includes habilitation (and rehabilitation) of persons with hearing loss. An audiologist is a licensed health care professional who specializes in diagnosing, evaluating, and treating hearing disorders and communication problems. Audiologists hold masters or doctoral degrees from accredited universities with special training in the prevention, identification, assessment and non-medical treatment of hearing disorders. They are required to complete a full-time internship and pass a national competency examination. They are licensed by individual states to practice their profession.

Audiologists conduct a wide variety of tests to determine the exact nature of an individual's hearing problem. They are responsible for hearing testing, balance testing, hearing aid fitting and repair, and the fitting of specialized ear pieces. They present a variety of treatment options to patients with hearing impairment. They refer patients to physicians when the hearing problem needs medical or surgical evaluation. If you are a new patient of Tejas Ear, Nose and Throat, you may see our Audiologist before seeing the doctor if you are complaining of any ear, hearing or balance related problem.
