Tongue Tie (Ankyloglossia)
Tongue tie is not uncommon and can run in families. Soon after birth it can lead to latching difficulties with breast feeding and can lead to speech difficulties. A simple release of the tongue (frenuloplasty/frenulectomy) can be performed in the office with local anesthesia for infants and adults. Children are usually taken to the operating room in order to avoid any type of fear or anxiety.
