The term "globus" refers to a foreign body sensation. Globus Pharyngeus refers to a foreign body sensation in the throat. This sensation causes one to try and "cough it up" or clear the throat, to no avail. A complete head and neck evaluation is warranted including a fiberoptic laryngoscopy. A common cause is laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) but a laryngeal mass or foreign body (bone) can cause the same type of complaint.
